This overview summarizes the content and conversations shared during our February 2014 public workshop and March 2014 “Day of Big Ideas” summit, as well as the results of our northeast Austin Schools Community Survey.

These three milestones follow many conversations and presentations that have taken place over the years with surrounding neighborhoods, Mueller residents, Austin ISD board members and staff and other stakeholders to address the challenges ahead for northeast Austin schools keeping pace with projected school-age growth.

This summary captures the key themes that have emerged to date from our broad exploration of school curriculum and governance models, neighborhood and regional needs, diversity, attendance zones and funding strategies. Within each of these key themes are dozens of broad concepts and specific ideas that have been captured and will be considered in the next steps we are taking on research, planning and outreach.
